Three-star OL Abojei commits to Minnesota

Robbinsdale Cooper H.S. offensive tackle Eric Abojei committed to Minnesota on Sunday, becoming the second commit for the Gophers for the class of 2017. Another in-state lineman, Blaise Andries, was the first commit when he made his decision last Saturday.

Abojei visited Minnesota on Friday with his parents, the first time they visited the campus with their son.

"It's always good," Abojei told GI on Saturday of his visit. "Took my parents with me for the first time and they liked it." Not to spoil his announcement, Abojei told GI he didn't have a timetable for a decision.

The three-star lineman also had an offer from Iowa State, where he visited last Saturday.

"I want to help them compete in the Big 10 conference and win a championship," Abojei said in his commitment note via Twitter.

Abojei said he has been invited to The Opening in Oregon and a Rivals.com Camp Series in Kansas City.
